Obama adviser sorry for comparing GOP to Jonestown cult

In a profile published late Tuesday by Politico Magazine, Podesta is quoted comparing Republicans to the infamous cult led by Jim Jones, who was responsible for the 1978 cyanide poisoning of more than 900 of his followers in Guyana.
"They need to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress," said Podesta of what Obama's White House team... Full story

Russell Simmons sees it differently.

Obama Removes 'God' from Gettysburg Address
Washington DC talk show host Chris Plante reported today that Barack Obama omitted the words "under God" from the Gettysburg Address when reciting the great speech for a Ken Burns documentary.
Burns had filmed all living presidents as well as various Hollywood personalities and luminaries to pay homage to the speech which was delivered by Abraham Lincoln 150 years ago, today.Plante broke the story on Washington DC talk radio station WMAL on his mid-morning program, "The Chris Plante Show."
WMAL reports:
Curiously enough, in his version of the speech, President Barack Obama's delivery contained an omission - in a line that every other celebrity delivered as "that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom," the President left out the words "under God."full story

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America .
ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It's 7.8%.
COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?
ABBOTT: No, that's 14.7%
COSTELLO: You just said 7.8%.
ABBOTT: 7.8% Unemployed.
COSTELLO: Right 7.8% out of work.
ABBOTT: No, that's 14.7%.
COSTELLO: Okay, so it's 14.7% unemployed.
ABBOTT: No, that's 7.8%.
COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 7.8% or 14.7%?
ABBOTT: 7.8% are unemployed. 14.7% are out of work.
COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed.
ABBOTT: No, Congress said you can't count the "Out of Work" as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!
ABBOTT: No, you miss his point.
COSTELLO: What point?
ABBOTT: Someone who doesn't look for work can't be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn't be fair.
COSTELLO: To whom?
ABBOTT: The unemployed.
COSTELLO: But ALL of them are out of work.
ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.
COSTELLO: So if you're off the unemployment rolls that would count as less unemployment?
ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!
COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don't look for work?
ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That's how they get it to 7.8%. Otherwise it would be 14.7%. Our govt. doesn't want you to read about 14.7% unemployment.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?
ABBOTT: Correct.
COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

Donald Trump Explains 'Dumbo Care' -- No one can sum it up better than Trump ...
Let me get this straight.... We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, who have recently demonstrated their objective and professional integrity; written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a Dumbo President who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, and the Post Office, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!!
'What the hell could possibly go wrong?'

Obamacare's winners and losers in Bay Area
L.A.W. We have been very clear: ObamaCare is a scam on the American people intended to destroy our health care system by bankrupting and/or underfunding Medicare and Medicaid, while adding trillions of new debt on the American taxpayer. Some of lefists/progressive/liberals who relected this President and support ObamaCare are now getting the bill. LOL, and they're surprised? Here's a story highlighting this point... "I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today," Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.
"I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year, that's otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy." Read story

Charlie Rangel: Tea Party Is ‘Same Group’ Of ‘White Crackers’ Who Fought Civil Rights / Charlie's 13 charges of ethic violations review
L.A.W.--- Once again Charlie proves himself a racist.... Hey Charlie, easy on the cracker comment, that's calling a white guy the 'N word' so shut the hell up! In an interview with the Daily Beast published Friday, Rep. Also, here's a quick run down on Charlie's long list of ethic violations.. So Sorry Charlie you are in fact a freakin unethical racist.
(Credit: AP)The House Ethics Committee brought 13 charges against Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel of New York yesterday.
For each violation, the Investigative Subcommittee scrutinizing Rangel determined there is "substantial reason to believe that a violation of the Code of Official Conduct, or of a law, rule, regulation, or other standard of conduct applicable to the performance of official duties or the discharge of official responsibilities by a Member, officer, or employee of the House of Representatives has occurred."
Below is a summary, and excerpts, from the Statement of Alleged Violations.
1. Conduct in violation of the solicitation and gift ban
6. Conduct in violation of House Office Building Commission's Regulation
7. Conduct in violation of the purpose law and the Member's Congressional Handbook
9. Conduct in violation of the Ethics in Government Act (EIGA) and House Rule 16

Below is a summary, and excerpts, from the Statement of Alleged Violations.
1. Conduct in violation of the solicitation and gift ban
- "Between 2005 and 2008 Respondent engaged in a pattern of soliciting for donations and other things of value on behalf of the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Policy at the City College of New York."
- "The entities solicited were seeking official action from the House..."
- "Respondent's conduct was not within the parameters established by the Standards Committee for solicitations on behalf of charitable organizations."
- A member is never supposed to give special favors or accept things that may make it look like it could sway the member in his official capacity.
- "...Respondent made numerous requests for support for the Rangel Center. Those requests were directed at entities and individuals whose interests could be affected by the legislative and oversight activities of Respondent in his capacity as a member of congress."
- "Contributions were made by persons with interests before the Ways and Means Committee..."
- "Contributions to the Rangel Center provided a benefit to Respondent."
- "Respondent solicited contributions for the Rangel Center and the Rangel Center did receive contributions."
- "Respondent has a personal interest in the Rangel Center... will provide him with an office, and allows him to perpetuate his legacy, including the storing and archiving of his papers."
- "Contributions to the Rangel Center constituted indirect gifts attributable to Respondent."
- A member is not allowed to use the frank for any association, committee or organization. Only for official congressional duties.
- "Respondent used his frank for the benefit of a charitable organization and for solicitation of funds."
- "Respondent used his frank on materials that were not official business."
6. Conduct in violation of House Office Building Commission's Regulation
- Not allowed to use congressional staff to solicit contributions on House of Representatives property.
- "Respondent and his staff drafted solicitation letters and performed other work related to solicitations on property of the U.S. Representatives."
7. Conduct in violation of the purpose law and the Member's Congressional Handbook
- Members' allowances include official mail costs/staff salaries. It is against the law to misuse federal funds. The members' handbook says the allowance can only be used for official purposes.
- "Respondent used House employees and other official House resources for work related to the Rangel center."
- "Those resources included the use of staff time, use of telephones and House email accounts, other office supplies, and of the frank. Those expenses were paid using the MRA." MRA is the Member's Representational Allowance.
- House rules do not allow anyone not under the direction and control of the House to use the words "Congress of the United States" or "House of Representatives" or "Official Business."
- "...Respondent sent letters related to the Rangel Center on letterhead bearing the words 'Congress of the United States' and 'House of Representatives.'
9. Conduct in violation of the Ethics in Government Act (EIGA) and House Rule 16
- EIGA requires members to file full and complete Financial Disclosure statements on income, rent on property, gifts and other financial assets. If a statement has to be amended, the committee says it's in good faith if done by the end of the year and an explanation as to why. Fail on one of those, and the amendment is not considered in good faith.
- "Respondent engaged in a pattern of submitting Financial Disclosure statements that were incomplete and inaccurate."
- "Respondent failed to report numerous items required to be reported... from 1998 through 2008."
- "Respondent erroneously reported numerous required to be reported under the EIGA during the period 1998 through 2007."
- "Respondent's amendments...1998 through 2007 were not filed within the close of the year...Respondent's amendments were not timely."
- "Respondent's amendments...1998 through 2007 were filed after the committee...had established an investigative subcommittee with respect to Respondent's conduct, including his reporting of the Punta Cana villa on his Financial Disclosure Statements..."
- "Respondent has failed to establish that the amendments to his Financial Disclosure statements for the calendar years 1998 through 2007 were submitted in good faith."
- "Respondent's conduct violated the EIGA."
- Here's another case where a person in government is not supposed to give special privileges to anyone or accept favors or benefits that could look like it might influence his actions as a Representative.
- "Respondent received a rent stabilized residential apartment at Lenox Terrace, which he used as office space for Rangel for Congress and National Leadership PAC."
- "Terms of the lease for the rent stabilized apartment provided that the apartment was to be used 'for living purposes only.'"
- "Respondent's acceptance of that rent-stabilized apartment for nonresidential purposes in contravention of the terms of the lease was a favor or benefit to him..."
- "Respondent accepted the favor or benefit from Olnick under circumstances that might be construed by reasonable persons as influencing the performance of his governmental duties."
- Code of ethics for government service states that people in government must uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States.
- "Respondent's failure to report rental income related to Punta Cana on his Federal income tax returns violated the Internal Revenue Code."
- As already stated above, Rangel also violated Franking Regulations, House Office Building Commission's Regulations, Member's Congressional Handbook, Ethics in Government Act and the Internal Revenue Code and other violations.
- House Rules state that a Member "shall adhere to the spirit and the letter of the Rules of the House..."
- Respondent's conduct violated this rule
- House Rules state that a Member "shall behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House."
- Subcommittee finds Rangel violated this with the following offenses
- -Improper solicitations of potential donors to the Rangel Center
-Acceptance of favors and benefits from donors to the Rangel Center in a way that some might see as influence the job he does in Congress
-Knowingly accepting indirect gifts from donors to the Rangel Center
-Improperly using franking privileges to raise money for the Rangel Center
-Writing solicitations for the Rangel Center on House property
-Misusing House resources- staff, phones, e-mail and franking for work related to the Rangel Center. - -Misuse of Congressional letterhead to solicit donations to the Rangel Center
-Failing to disclose, from 1998 to 2007, full and complete financial statements - -Rangel's pattern of submitting Financial Disclosure statements that were incomplete and inaccurate
-Failing to make sure his Financial Disclosure statements were complete and accurate
-Violating the Ethics in Government Act
-Failing to report rental income from his villa in the Dominican Republic on his Federal income tax returns from 1998 to 2006 - -Violating the Internal Revenue Code
- -Receiving rent stabilized apartment, using it for campaign activities when the lease stated it should be used only for living purposes
- -Accepting the rent stabilized apartment in a way that could look like he was influence in his government activities by the deal
- -By breaking the law, Rangel violated the Code of Ethics for Government Service
- -By not adhering to the letter and spirit of House Rules
-"Respondent's pattern of indifference or disregard for the laws, rules and regulations of the United States and the House of Representatives is a serious violation" - -"Respondent's actions and accumulation of actions reflected poorly on the institution of the House and, thereby, brought discredit to the House"

Scalia: 'High-Handed' Kennedy Has Declared Us 'Enemies of the Human Race'

In a ripping dissent, Scalia says that Justice Anthony Kennedy and his colleagues in the majority have resorted to calling opponents of gay marriage "enemies of the human race."
But to defend traditional marriage is not to condemn, demean, or humiliate those who would prefer other arrangements, any more than to defend the Constitution of the United States is to con- demn, demean, or humiliate other constitutions. To hurl such accusations so casually demeans this institution. In the majority's judgment, any resistance to its holding is beyond the pale of reasoned disagreement. To question its high-handed invalidation of a presumptively valid statute is to act (the majority is sure) with the purpose to "dis- parage," "injure," "degrade," "demean," and "humiliate" our fellow human beings, our fellow citizens, who are homo- sexual. All that, simply for supporting an Act that did no more than codify an aspect of marriage that had been unquestioned in our society for most of its existence— indeed, had been unquestioned in virtually all societies for virtually all of human history. It is one thing for a society to elect change; it is another for a court of law to impose change by adjudging those who oppose it hostes humani generis, enemies of the human race.
Scalia says that the court's holding – while limited to the Defense of Marriage Act – is a sure sign that the majority is willing to declare gay marriage a constitutional right.
It takes real cheek for today's majority to assure us, as it is going out the door, that a constitutional requirement to give formal recognition to same-sex marriage is not at issue here—when what has preceded that assurance is a lecture on how superior the majority's moral judgment in favor of same-sex marriage is to the Congress's hateful moral judgment against it. I promise you this: The only thing that will "confine" the Court's holding is its sense of what it can get away with.
And, he says, the holding will short circuit the debate over gay marriage that should have been carried out in the states.
In the majority's telling, this story is black-and-white: Hate your neighbor or come along with us. The truth is more complicated. It is hard to admit that one's political opponents are not monsters, especially in a struggle like this one, and the challenge in the end proves more than today's Court can handle. Too bad. A reminder that disagreement over something so fundamental as marriage can still be politically legitimate would have been a fit task for what in earlier times was called the judicial temperament. We might have covered ourselves with honor today, by promising all sides of this debate that it was theirs to settle and that we would respect their resolution. We might have let the People decide.
But that the majority will not do. Some will rejoice in today's decision, and some will despair at it; that is the nature of a controversy that matters so much to so many. But the Court has cheated both sides, robbing the winners of an honest victory, and the losers of the peace that comes from a fair defeat. We owed both of them better. I dissent.

Barack Obama bombs in Berlin: a weak, underwhelming address from a floundering president
When John F. Kennedy delivered his “Ich Bin Ein Berliner” speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate on June 26, 1963, 450,000 people flocked to hear him. Fifty years later a far more subdued invitation-only crowd of 4,500 showed up to hear Barack Obama speak at the same location in Berlin. As The National Journal noted, “he didn’t come away with much, winning just a smattering of applause from a crowd that was one-hundredth the size of JFK’s,” Full story

There were the snarky words from Vladimir Putin, who expressed an almost Soviet-esque distance from Washington in his views about Syria. "Of course our opinions do not coincide," the Russian leader said bluntly. There was the coded warning from Chancellor Angela Merkel about spying on friends, and her and Obama's continuing frostiness over the issue of economic stimulus versus austerity. Above all, there was Obama's vague attempt at the Brandenburg Gate to capture some wisp of his past glory by pledging vague plans to cut nuclear arms and an even vaguer concept of "peace with justice." Roger Ailes wows conservatives in accepting Bradley prize
By Paul Farhi, Updated:
Roger Ailes, the chairman and architect of the Fox News Channel, picked up a $250,000 award from a conservative foundation Wednesday night at the Kennedy Center, and served up some red meat to the largely conservative crowd gathered to honor him.
The prize came from the Milwaukee-based Bradley Foundation, which honored Ailes and three others with its 10th annual Bradley Prize for promoting public policies consistent with the foundation’s conservative mission (the group’s goals include school choice, welfare reform and limited government).

Ailes delighted the full house by slamming President Obama, and liberals in general, in his acceptance speech.
To vigorous applause, he implied that the Obama administration had abandoned its duty to protect American diplomats and personnel during last year’s attacks in Benghazi, Libya. “I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t even care what the president of the United States was doing that night,” he said. “However, I would like to know what the commander-in-chief was doing that night.”
He also told a shaggy-dog story about the difference between liberals and conservatives.
It seems a liberal in a hot-air balloon is lost and late for an appointment and descends to ask a conservative for directions. The conservative pulls out a GPS device and tells him exactly where he is.
“You must be a conservative,” the balloon man says. The man on the ground asks how he knows that. The reply: “Everything you’ve told me is technically correct, I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is, I’m still lost. Frankly, you haven’t been very much help so far.”
The conservative replies that the balloon guy must be a liberal. How does he know? The punch line: “You don’t know where you’re going or where you’ve been, you’ve risen to where you are on hot air, and you made a promise that you have no idea how to keep. Now you expect me to solve your problems. The fact is, you’re in the same place you were before we met and now it’s my fault!”
Turning serious, Ailes offered a spirited critique of multiculturalism:
“We must stop waving our extended arms in an effort to balance ourselves as we tiptoe along the edges of the Constitution in an effort not to upset weak-kneed appeasers with our unflinching belief in the ideas that made our country different and, yes, great,” he said. “Are we losing America to the inevitable onrushing tide of history? No. But we’re in a storm, the mast is broken, the compass is off , and there’s a damn big hole in the boat. We have allowed ourselves to be manipulated by others, many of whom want to impose their culture and laws under the manufactured utopian idea that all all cultures are equal and most of them are better than America….America is a culture, it has a culture, and it must be recognized….We must not allow our collective memory to fade or morph into trendy revisionist versions of political correctness, which become a substitute for the truth.”
It wasn’t exactly clear who or what he was referring to, but the audience ate it up.
The foundation’s other honorees were former Indiana governor Mitch Daniels (R); Bush administration solicitor general Paul D. Clement; and National Affairs quarterly founding editor Yuval Levin.
Also in attendance: Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore (R) and a slew of Fox News folk, including Greta van Susteren, Brit Hume, Ed Henry, Bret Baier and Bill Kristol. Washington Post columnist George Will, a former Bradley Prize winner, was the evening’s emcee.
Ailes said that he intended to donate his prize money to a charity for senior citizens (he didn’t name the charity) and that he would match the money with his own contribution.
He also didn’t address a possibly awkward bit of business: Is it appropriate for a man running a news organization that promotes itself as “fair and balanced” to accept a large check from a partisan organization?
The prize came from the Milwaukee-based Bradley Foundation, which honored Ailes and three others with its 10th annual Bradley Prize for promoting public policies consistent with the foundation’s conservative mission (the group’s goals include school choice, welfare reform and limited government).

Roger Ailes, chairman and chief executive officer of Fox News, speaks during the Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, Calif., in this Monday, July 24, 2006.

Report: IRS Deliberately Chose Not to Fess Up to Scandal Before Election
The IRS commissioner "has known for at least a year that this was going on," said Myers, "and that this had happened. And did he share any of that information with the White House? But even more importantly, Congress is going to ask him, why did you mislead us for an entire year? Members of Congress were saying conservatives are being targeted. What's going on here? The IRS denied it. Then when -- after these officials are briefed by the IG that this is going on, they don't disclose it. In fact, the commissioner sent a letter to Congress in September on this subject and did not reveal this. Imagine if we -- if you can -- what would have happened if this fact came out in September 2012, in the middle of a presidential election? The terrain would have looked very different."

Biden mocks gun skeptics: ‘We’re going to swoop down with Special Forces folks and gather up every gun in America’
L.A.W.-- Hey Joe, nice job mocking Americans who don't trust you on the second amendment issue! You continue divide our country and lie to the American citizen on matters of the economy, taxes, civil liberties, and foreign affair matters such as Benghazi, North Korea, and Syria (not to mention the disaster named Arab Spring). LOL, however, you do make us laugh and we look forward to peacefully paying our taxes and listening to you babble :)
Article By Charlie Spiering April 9, 2013 | 3:05 pm : During a gun control speech Tuesday at the White House, Vice President Biden mocked the “black helicopter crowd” for opposing the idea of universal background checks for Americans purchasing guns.
“Kinda scary man, the black helicopter crowd is really upset,” Biden said, criticizing the National Rifle Association for promoting a “misinformation campaign” on background checks.
Biden insisted that there would be no central registry for background checks allowing government to keep records on gun owners.

But that’s what’s being sold out there.”

O Parties at WH During Sequester
LAW-- Good grief, you have the President of the US using the sequester as the excuse for keeping the WH closed to the public tours, while partying the night away. LOL, all the while-- the family vacations in Hawaii and the Bahamas with no apparent problem or respect to the sequester. This would be great if we didn't have 660,000 people who gave up looking for work last month alone and over 50,000,000 people on food stamps.

Sebelius: Yep, ObamaCare is raising insurance costs
LAW... No kidding, ObamaCare is raising insurance costs? This is a disaster playing out in front of us to see. The law (which was passed by Senators who did not know what was in it) will destroy the economy, or at least dismantle what's left of the middle-class, and force us to live under the increasingly heavy-handed 'south Chicago gangsta' antics of the federal government.
We recognize that congrats are in order for Ms Sebelois, Pelosi, Reed and others who've lied on behalf of this adminstration in order to pass the law-- good job using your tools to keep the poor and misinformed in the dark and expressing their anger toward the 'evil 1%'. Quite brilliant really, you've taken American politics to a new standard of corruption.
Now for the article post, apparently it's a "watershed moment in the ongoing disaster of ObamaCare, as Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius finally admits that health insurance premiums are rising because of the President’s health insurance takeover-- read Wall Street Journal:- see full story
