"I Too Have Become Disillusioned"

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack
Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling
breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle
Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional
accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military,
execute the world's most consequential job?
Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League, despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.
He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?
Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberal Dom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme, he was given a pass. Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass - held to a lower standard - because of the color of his skin.
Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening", all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?
Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon - affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.
Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self-esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin - that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, then nothing is.
And that is what America did to Obama. True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the U.S. Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary.
What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks? In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people - conservatives included - ought now to be deeply embarrassed.
The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that's when he has his Teleprompters in front of him; when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth - it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years.
And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. Remember, he wanted the job, campaigned for the task. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?
In short: our president is a small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in the Oval Office.

$737 million loan from DOE... LOL, another corruption case from OCrap's admin

Obama's Department of Energy.
One of the investment partners in this endeavor is Pacific Corporate Group (PCG).
The PCG executive director is Ron Pelosi, who is the brother to Nancy 's husband. The Attorney who represents The Tonopah Solar Company is Senator Harry Reed's son.

The Daily Caller has obtained a complete audio recording of the October 19, 1998 Loyola College forum on community organizing and policymaking during which a future President Barack Obama said he favored the government redistribution of wealth. The audio demonstrates the context of that remark and reveals other far-left positions that Obama held as a state senator. Those positions encompass issues as wide-ranging as gun control, universal health care and welfare reform. Obama also said he viewed welfare recipients and “the working poor” as “a majority coalition” that could be mobilized to help advance progressive policies and elect their champions. Last week the liberal Mother Jones magazine published video footage, shot during a campaign event, showing Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney opining that 47 percent of Americans are captive Democratic voters because they receive government benefits without paying income taxes. Loyola College refused repeated requests from TheDC for a copy of the full one-hour and 42-minute videotape from 1998. But a source in Chicago who gained permission to view it recorded the sound secretly, confirming the accuracy of — and expanding on — initial accounts that featured only a brief audio excerpt. “I actually believe in [wealth] redistribution,” Obama said in that 96-second excerpt, published September 18 on YouTube. “At least at a certain level, to make sure that everybody’s got a shot.” The following day, NBC News said it had obtained what it called “the entirety of the relevant remarks,” and complained that Republicans had taken the original lines out of context. NBC published only 35 seconds of video, however, more than half of which overlapped with the YouTube audio from a day earlier. L.A.W.-- The President of the United States, who at one point controled the House and the Senate, say he could not change Washington from the inside. Really? You said you were going to:
- create jobs (stimulus money instead went to state public unions and other campaign contributors),
- reduce the number of lobbyists in DC (there's now more lobbyists in DC than ever before),
- end the wars (Iraq plan was in place by Bush); Afiganistan has more U.S. troops than when you started;
- close Guantameno (open with more ammeneties than ever before),
- reduce our dependency on foreign oil (tougher restrictions on U.S. drilling, billion dollar investment in Brazilian offshore drilling, and even more dependency on foreign oil),
- restore America's reputation across the globe (your investment in Arab Spring has encourged rampant muslim hatred toward the U.S.).
Let's be perfectly clear: The American people were lied to about who you are as a person and your intentions to reduce the power of this great nation by "spreading the wealth" not just within our bounderies, but world-wide, meaning this great nation would finance the disasterous economies of cultures appose to the freedoms and liberties provided through our Constitution. Mr. President, this country is a great nation and despite your effort to minimize our greatness, dillute our freedoms, bankrupt our treasury, we will succeed. See you at the polls.

Obama on Letterman: Doesn’t know debt clock numbers

1) When Clinton left office he had a balanced budget, we still had Trillions in debt. There was not a "surpluss" or "extra money." Are you nuts?
2) When you took office our debt was 10 Trillion, it's now over 16 Trillion, meaning you increased the debt by over a third.
3) Even if you and Letterman kicked in "your fair share" it would not be nearly enough to cover the yearly deficit (over 1 Trillion per year).
4) You have no intention of reducing the size of the federal government, as evident by your actions the past three years.
5) You did not bail out the auto industry! The money went to the unions, bypassing shareholders who had preferred stock position.
6) You attitude on the topic of debt is an insult to the American public and the fact our media is not calling you out on this issue, as it does on Republicans, is unacceptable. You are coddled beyond belief.
7) Yes Letterman, to answer your question, you should be scared about the debt we owe! Its' out of control spending. The fact you are sitting there asking, "what is this clock thing" spinning out of control is mind-numbing. LOL, what the hell do you think is going on?
8) LOL, and for Ocrap to say part of the debt problem is the "prescription drug plan" (Bush spending) is outragous as the Dems wanted a lot more!

Apparently, as with so many other things, some people who hold the Presidency have class and some don’t. To all appearances, former President George W. Bush is the former, and current President Barack Obama is the latter, at least if this afternoon‘s unveiling of former President Bush’s Presidential portrait is any guide.
This event – which is, at least in theory, supposed to be free of partisan sniping, got an earful of just that when President Obama gave his introductory remarks welcoming Bush:
President Obama on Thursday twisted the knife he‘d stuck in his predecessor’s legacy, reminding former President George W. Bush that he left the economy a mess and al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden alive when he left the White House three years ago.
“The months before I took the oath of office were a chaotic time,” Obama told a crowd of mostly former Bush administration officials and members of the Bush family, including Bush’s parents, former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush.[...]
“We knew our economy was in trouble, our fellow Americans were in pain, but we wouldn’t know until later just how breathtaking the financial crisis had been,” Obama continued, raising some eyebrows among the Bush crowd seated just a few feet away. Full story
